Aerosol Barrier & Drapes
Helping to protect hospital staff and first responders from Covid-19 Aerosols
Aerosol Barrier & Drapes are designed to help reduce the risk of Covid-19 droplet and aerosol exposure to medical staff and first responders who perform intubations and other high-risk respiratory procedures.
An Aerosol Barrier, combined with any clear sterile surgical drape, helps provide protection for the clinician as well as assisting medical staff who can access the patient from either above or under the sheet. Aerosol Barriers are portable, easy to clean, and convenient to store.
This is a NON FDA approved device. This is for use by medical professionals only and at your own risk. The Aerosol Shield has been created due to the COVID-19 pandemic with best practices in mind.
How it works
Designed by Dr. Ririe from the Wake Forest School of Medicine.
He described that the angled durable plastic shield can be used with any size patient and provides good visualization of a patient’s airway. A medical grade clear plastic drape is taped to the shield and helps provide protection for the primary doctor as well as other assisting staff. The open sides of the shield allow for easy access to equipment, and free maneuverability for the clinician’s hands and arms.
The clear durable plastic barrier is a sturdy one-piece design with no seams, and is easy to disinfect with standard hospital disinfecting wipes. After disinfecting, wiping the barrier with an alcohol cloth will keep visibility clear.
We have identified U.S.-based manufacturers making Aerosol Barriers* for hospitals, who are able to ship you shields now via overnight delivery.
*Drapes are not included with Aerosol Barriers.
Please note we are solely focused on connecting hospitals to manufacturers, and have no commercial interest in these manufacturers. Transactions are solely between the hospitals and the manufacturers, and we are not receiving money from anyone.
